CipherX Technologies is developing technology to painlessly imprint permanent tattoos onto skin using patent-pending patches.
Tattoos have become more popular than ever with approximately 1 in 3 UK citizens having at least one tattoo and around 90% of tattooed people planning their next one. The invasive method of creating tattoos, using a needle and ink, has not significantly evolved since its beginnings thousands of years ago and is often associated with pain, and also presents the risk of tissue scarring and blood borne diseases.
The company’s technology not only meets strict hygienic standards, but is also pain-free and eliminates the risk of tissue scarring. The tattoo patches can be designed and ordered online and easily applied at home. This technology makes tattoos more accessible to everyone.
CipherX Technologies was founded by Innovation Design Engineering graduate, Ferdinand Kohle, who graduated from the RCA in 2021.
