InnovationRCA timeline 2024
InnovationRCA provides business coaching and start-up incubation services to RCA students, graduates and staff to help them protect and commercialise pioneering design-led ideas through company formation or licensing. InnovationRCA serves as an enterprise hub with an active community of early-stage start-ups, entrepreneurial fellows, business and industry experts and investors. We have a lively calendar of events to champion our community, and facilitate useful knowledge exchange and introductions.
RCA graduates, student and staff
Patent Support Programme
Graduating students with commercial inventions can apply for patent support to protect their ideas and avoid disclosure at their graduation show. They are provided with patent funding, guidance and commercialisation support.

Through our start-up programme, we invest in and incubate compelling spinout and start-up ventures to transform them into investable businesses and help them get to market.

We also accelerate the growth of creative brand businesses founded by Royal College of Art alumni.

We also run a scale-up programme called First50 to support those InnovationRCA companies that have raised follow-on investment and flown the nest.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship
InnovationRCA also runs programmes for any external entrepreneurs, start-ups and organisations looking to promote and support innovation and entrepreneurship. These are interactive, bespoke programmes of varying duration built on our unique, highly-successful, design-led and user-centred approach which bridges technology, business and creativity.

Investors and investment
InnovationRCA is able, through its angel investor network, AngelClubRCA, to connect investors to RCA spinouts and start-ups. In addition, InnovationRCA works with its start-up and spinout founders to make them investment-ready and to guide them on their funding strategies.
