Episod Studio's Race For The Arctic Game

Episod Studio develops interactive entertainment content and thought-provoking digital games.

The company uses video games to tell stories, with the player becoming part of the digital world taking an active role in the events unfolding inside the game. The studio’s distinctive content allows it to target audiences interested in political and dystopian niches, present in both the documentary and video games industry.

Within the video games industry, storytelling is becoming increasingly important and creators of indie games and production companies are both moving into the storytelling space. The interactivity innate to video gaming has also sparked an emerging interest in the crossover between documentaries and games, with Netflix now committed to introducing interactive storytelling on its platform.

Episod Studio was founded by Sindi Breshani and Juliette Coquet, both graduates of the RCA’s Information Experience Design MA programme in 2020. Having secured support from the UK Games Fund, the studio is developing Race for the Arctic, a videogame traversing the coming half a century in the Arctic. Future games in its plans include Propaganda, a board game about post-truth propaganda, and Diktatura, a video game based on the Albanian dictatorship.
