Research interests
Current areas of interest are narrative ownerships, questioning whether any ethical criteria exists for architectural languages to be imposed and their expression controlled? And etymology of architecture, within Semper’s framework that all ‘products’ of the applied arts have their origin in the ‘process’ of “joining, binding and completing”.
Research funding
2005 – EU Sustainability funding to research lower cost and lower process housing production.
2014 – Italian Government funding to research with Italian stonemasons the use of waste stone.
Awards
GROUPWORK is an employee ownership trust of architects, who have been twice shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2017, 2021 and EU Mies prize 2019. RIBA regional and National awards for all completed works. Winning various architectural competitions across 2003-2019 ranging from private houses, through metro stations/infrastructure and masterplanning.
