Brigitte is Managing Director of LOKI Architecture + Development, as well as Strategic Lead at ACAN! Her research and work focus on climate diplomacy, regenerative finance and systems change.
Brigitte Clements is an architect and developer based in London. After several years working in practice and research institutes in Switzerland, she founded LOKI Architecture and Development with the ambition to work with impact-driven investors to build beautiful buildings with the highest standards of sustainability underpinning the projects.
She holds an MSc in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies from UEL, and an MSc from ETH Zürich. Brigitte’s expertise includes building physics, integrated design and material science.
Aside from her professional practice, she is the Strategic Lead of the Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN), where she is also heavily involved in policy shaping in whole life carbon and circular economy. This year she is teaching Carbon Economics & Material Process at the RCA.

Brigitte’s research spans interdisciplinary fields, with a primary focus on building physics, environmental and energy studies, climate diplomacy, and regenerative finance. In building physics, she examines how building materials and design interact with environmental factors to improve energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality, while minimising environmental impact and enhancing resilience.
Her work in environmental and energy studies is driven by a commitment to sustainable development, exploring renewable energy systems, lifecycle assessments of energy technologies, and strategies to reduce urban carbon footprints. She investigates the integration of renewable energy into existing infrastructures and the necessary policy frameworks to support this transition.
Climate diplomacy is another key area of her research, where she explores how international negotiations and agreements shape global climate action. She focuses on identifying diplomatic strategies that foster cooperation and lead to equitable climate solutions.
In regenerative finance, Brigitte examines how financial systems can be restructured to support sustainability and social equity, emphasising the alignment of economic incentives with long-term ecological goals. Her research reflects a holistic approach to tackling environmental and energy challenges, underpinned by a strong commitment to advancing sustainable practices and policies globally.

In addition to her research, Brigitte has established a distinguished professional practice as the founder of LOKI Architecture + Development, an award-winning firm dedicated to sustainability in the built environment. Her practice emphasizes the integration of innovative design with environmental responsibility, striving to create structures that not only meet the highest standards of energy efficiency but also harmonize with their local contexts.
LOKI Architecture + Development has undertaken a diverse range of projects, from the design of the UK’s first net-zero mansion in London, which sets a new benchmark for sustainable luxury, to community-centered developments in Indonesia. In these international projects, Brigitte collaborates closely with local craftsmen, employing traditional techniques and materials to create buildings that are both culturally resonant and environmentally sustainable. Her knowledge around property development, finance and business enables Brigitte to drive architectural projects that encompass the values and sustainability principles she believes in.
