Chris is a writer, editor and critic, author of The Artist in Time (Herbert Press, 2020) and Ha-Ha Crystal (Copy Press, 2016).

Contributing Editor at ArtReview, a contributing editor to Draught journal, and regular contributor to publications such as e-flux and Art Monthly, Chris Fite-Wassilak writes regularly on artist practices and exhibitions, with art criticism that has featured in Afterall, Camera Austria, Frieze, Tate Etc and other art publications, and essays on cultural histories and suburban arcana in publications including Feast Journal, Glut, The Quietus, The Serving Library and Vittles. He is the co-organiser, with artist Anne Tallentire, of the bi-annual peripatetic event hmn.

Chris' critical writing and essays have appeared in publications including Afterall, Apollo, Art & Australia, Art Papers, Camera Austria, frieze, Tate Etc, The Quietus, RA Magazine, The Serving Library and Vittles.

He has contributed to influential books shaping art discourse including Politics of Food (eds. Dani Burrows and Aaron Cezar, Delfina Foundation and Sternberg, 2019), Curating Research (eds. Paul O’Neill and Mick Wilson, Open Editions, 2014) and Out of Time, Out of Place: Public Art (Now) (ed. Clare Doherty, Art/Books, 2015). He has written monograph essays for catalogues on John Carson (AVA Public, 2021), Imogen Stidworthy (Netwerk Aalst, 2019), Matt Calderwood (Baltic and De La Warr Pavilion, 2015), and many others, including forthcoming publications on Anne Tallentire and Alexis Teplin.
