Speaker Bios

Dr. Delfina Fantini van Ditmar
Tutor (Research), Design Products, School of Design, RCA

Delfina is a tutor & a researcher in Design Products and a Visiting Lecturer of the MRes Design programme & Information Experience Design (IED) at the RCA. She also participates in across Design School transdisciplinary modules such as the Grand Challenge. She has been a crit and visiting lecturer in several institutions, including The Bartlett, L'École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD), Architectural Association, Canterbury University, Liverpool University and TU Berlin, among others. Her publications range from a chapter in the book Ghost Pavilion for the Venice Biennale, an article for the journal ACM Interactions, a chapter in Springer, and an interview for the book A Better Place, a Next Generation Internet initiative funded by the European Commission and launched at European Parliament. Delfina was awarded the 2011 Heinz von Foerster Award by the American Society for Cybernetics.

Dr Harriet Harriss
Dean of Pratt School of Architecture, Brooklyn, New York

Dr. Harriet Harriss (RIBA, FAIA, Ph.D.) is a qualified architect and Dean of the Pratt School of Architecture in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to this, she led the Architecture Research Programs at the Royal College of Art in London. She has won various awards including a Brookes Teaching Fellowship, a Higher Education Academy Internationalisation Award, a Churchill Fellowship, two Santander Fellowships, two Diawa Awards, and a NESTA (National Endowment for Science Technology and Art) Pioneer Award. Dean Harriss was awarded a Clore Fellowship for cultural leadership (2016-17) and elected to the European Association of Architectural Education Council in summer 2017. Her public consultancy roles include writing national construction curriculum for the UK government's Department for Education and international program validations and pedagogy design and development internationally.
