Inside/Out: Yatofu

Yatofu Creatives is an award-winning design studio, founded in 2017 by co-founders, Angela Lindahl and Yihan Xiang, who together possess a combined background that spreads across Asia, North America and Europe. The duo started their design studio in Helsinki with the intention of bringing a refreshed approach to designing for an international audience, and now operates out of their two office locations in Helsinki and Shanghai. 

With a focus on experience rather than style, Yatofu approaches each project by drawing contextual clues from site, culture, history, and the people that surround each design task. Striving to create visually and conceptually bold outcomes, their work is guided by a constant search for balance between aesthetics and meaning.  The studio’s strong commitment to experimenting through a mix of context and new relevant perspectives ultimately allows their work to invite new dialogues, memoires, and connections.
