Course structure
This Executive Education workshop aimed at professionals consisted of lectures, workshops, and presentations focused on interdisciplinary innovation and creative education. Participants from four Shanghai universities collaborated with staff from the Royal College of Art to examine academic structures and design-led solutions for social and environmental challenges.
The first day included introductions from all universities and lectures on mission-led innovation, service design, and doctoral research. On the second day, participants attended a workshop on interdisciplinary collaboration where they worked in teams to explore new program development, followed by sessions on curriculum design and research practice. The final day featured a workshop on experiential design and presentations regarding the ethos of the fashion program and digital storytelling.
Notable speakers included Professor Chantal Faust, Dr. Nick de Leon, Dr. Nadia Danhash, and Dr. Qian Sun. Sessions were also led by Professor Hala Mansour, Professor Gareth Loudon, Dr. Rob Phillips, Dr. Chris Mitchell, and Dr. Carolina Ramirez-Figueroa. The programme concluded with closing remarks from the President and Vice-Chancellor of the RCA, Professor Christoph Lindner.

The course ended with a final reflection on key takeaways and the practical challenges of implementing these academic ideas, including:
