Aeropowder

Aeropowder is developing novel, multi-purpose materials from chicken feathers

As a society, we consume a large amount of poultry and the resulting chicken feathers are a significant waste issue for the industry. However, as a highly engineered biomaterial, Aeropowder believe that feathers are a valuable resource rather than something to be discarded or turned into a low grade animal feed.

Aeropowder’s aim is to harness feathers' properties to create a range of products, from insulation to structural reinforcement in biocomposites. Additionally, feather based materials are sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Aeropowder Co-founder Elena Dieckmann is the winner of InnovateUK's Women in Innovation Awards 2016 and was awarded an InnovationRCA Patent Fellowship in 2016.

Aeropowder is the past winner of the Mayor of London’s Low Carbon Entrepreneur Award 2016, and is supported by the Climate-KIC programme.
