A hybrid turbomachinery system that extracts plastics and synthetic waste from rivers and oceans.
Ichthion is a graduate spinout that is developing a scalable system to reduce the flow of plastics into the world’s oceans. Ichthion’s energy-generative patent-pending systems can be installed in rivers, coastal areas and oceans to collect micro and macro plastics through filtration, generating and capturing data throughout the process.
In 2019, Ichthion opened offices in Ecuador to kickstart the installation and operation of its Azure System in the Portoviejo River, aimed at preventing plastic contamination from reaching the Galapagos Islands. This system consists of a river barrier capable of hauling all types of pollution from the river, without interfering with ecological and human systems.
