InHouse Records

A human centred, co-created, design led approach to reducing re-offending, blending education and creativity for safer communities, less victims of crime and societal reintegration with dignity.

InHouse Records is a service design approach to reducing re-offending in the UK. The service blends an educational programme, which takes place inside prisons, and a functioning record label.

InHouse provides innovative and neurodiverse specific education across 50% of UK prisons and 15% of correctional facilities in Connecticut, USA. Its work has shown to increase literacy levels, while reducing instances of negative behaviour among inmates. As well as disseminating an award-winning, full-colour music magazine that provides education by disguise, InHouse also provides an accredited weekly distance learning deck of music cards. Its sessions in prisons allow learners to make sense of their past and build for the future.

The company’s record label, InHouse Records, also provides wrap-around mentoring support and signposting to statutory services, while releasing and publishing music across all digital platforms with music partner Sony. The label produces graduates with 21st century resumes, formed and informed by a collaboration with Ernst & Young.
