Practice
To Alon, making is an important state of being, an essential part of being human. In the same way power is measured in horses and light is measured in candles, Alon’s design output is sometimes measured in manual labour; the act of making being key to the creative process.
This ethos celebrates the idea that we were Homo Habilis before we were Homo Sapiens, with making sometimes preceding thinking as both are used for shaping ideas.
Alon’s work and teaching promotes personal experimentation and openness to influences, persistence and reflection.
