Ricardo is a fusionist designer and researcher interested in body x world relationships and hybrid environments focused on wearables, smart devices, and materials.
Ricardo is a Postdoctoral Researcher in human and material experiences at the Materials Science Research Centre.
As part of the UKRI Interdisciplinary Textiles Circularity Centre, Ricardo’s research includes understanding the consumers’ needs and developing compelling experiences that engage them to be an active part of the circular textile economy.
Ricardo holds a degree in International Relations from PUC – SP (Brazil), multimedia design from SENAC – SP (Brazil), and a master’s in arts from the University of Arts and Industrial Design Linz (Austria) at the Interface Culture Department. His PhD looked at methods for ideating and developing future touch-based technologies.

Multisensory experience research and design, focusing on on-body interfaces, haptics and phygitals.
Practice
Ricardo has worked in the creative industry as a mentor and jury in projects from the European Commission. As an artist, he participated in many Artist in Residency programs and developed many art projects exhibited globally. Ricardo is also an experienced lecturer and public speaker, focused on wearables, smart textiles, new technologies and their impact on individuals and society. In 2020 He wrote "Roupas Inteligentes: combinado moda e technologia", the first book about wearables published in Brazil.
