Fields Wicker-Miurin OBE FKC appointed as Deputy Chair of Council and Chair of Planning & Resources Committee

With over 25 years of experience as a non-executive director and committee chair for the  boards of global companies, UK government departments, social enterprises, and arts and higher education organisations (including 9 years on the Council of King's College, London), Fields has worked extensively around the world in countries as diverse as Brazil, China, India, Russia and the US. She brings a global and multidisciplinary approach to her work.

She will succeed Caragh Merrick OBE as Vice Chair and Chair of Planning and Resources, having originally joined the RCA Council in 2008.

Fields Wicker-Miurin’s appointment comes shortly after leading figure in media and the creative industries Sir Peter Bazalgette was announced as the incoming Chair of Council, taking over from Baroness Gail Rebuck in March 2022.

Baroness Rebuck DBE, RCA Chair of Council, said: ‘The RCA is very fortunate to have attracted as consummate a professional as Fields to chair the College’s key operating committee and to deputise for the new Chair of Council. It was a daunting task to find a successor to Caragh’s expert leadership but Fields’s breadth of management experience, key strategic skills, financial acumen and global perspective will help steer the College through the next exciting stage of its development. I am personally delighted to be handing over the governance reins to such experienced leaders as Peter and Fields who will help ensure that the College continues to offer the highest quality academic experience to students and to lead the world in art and design.’

Fields Wicker-Miurin is a Non-Executive Director of BNP Paribas, Paris, SCOR, Paris and Prudential plc London/Hong Kong and is a Partner of Leaders’ Quest, a global social enterprise focused on leadership. She stepped down last year from the board of the DCMS where she was Chair of its Audit and Risk Committee. Throughout her career, Fields has developed a significant track record of bringing together different disciplines, perspectives and cultures to create better futures.
