The College is saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Kenneth Grange - a luminary in the field of industrial design.

At the RCA, Sir Kenneth had been a Visiting Professor to Design Products since 2005 regularly contributing to teaching and assessment. He was a Member of Court and received an Honorary Doctorate in 1985.
Professor Paul Anderson, Dean of the School of Design, said:
“Sir Kenneth Grange's illustrious career, spanning over six decades, left an indelible mark on the world of design, earning him the reputation as one of the most influential designers of his time. His exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to his craft shone through in his iconic designs, such as the Intercity 125 train and the London taxi cab, which exemplified his belief in the power of design to enhance everyday life.
“Kenneth’s role as a mentor and teacher at the Royal College of Art was warmly welcomed where he inspired and nurtured countless aspiring designers. Grange's teachings, rooted in the principles of functional simplicity, ergonomic efficiency, and timeless elegance, continue to resonate with designers around the world. His legacy as a designer and educator will forever be cherished, as his passion and wisdom continue to shape the future of design. Rest in peace, Sir Kenneth Grange. Your influence and spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to learn from you.”
