RCA x Design For Good Academy Masterclass: The importance of life-long learning for the design community

Continuous education enables professionals to stay relevant, adapt to new technologies and meet emerging challenges head-on. As job roles evolve there is a need for professionals to embrace lifelong learning as a self-motivated expansion of skills and knowledge that align with the demands of the modern workforce.

This talk focuses on the personal journey in life-long learning taken by three notable Chief Design Officers. Ximena O’Reilly, Teman Evans and Mauro Porcini were invited to share their education experiences and reflect on what they believe are the key skills and mindset required by the design community and beyond.

The conversation with Ximena O’Reilly, Teman Evans and Mauro Porcini has been brought together by the RCA x Design for Good Academy. As the Design Leads from Design for Good founding organisations, they wish to support this meaningful opportunity to connect with the global design community.

About Design for Good

Design for Good is a non-profit alliance that aims to directly deliver measurable impact on society’s biggest challenges, on a scale only possible through global collaboration. Established in 2022, Design for Good’s founding alliance comprises leading organisations including General Mills, Logitech, McKinsey & Company, Microsoft led by Xbox, Nedbank, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Philips and the Royal College of Art.

Running from September 2024 – April 2025, the academy consists of 8 taught Modules plus 3 expert Masterclass talks with over 500 participants. It aims to empower experienced professional designers with the knowledge and skills to create solutions that address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
