PhD supervision at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design
In addition to Ageing, Health & Inclusive Design MPhil/PhD, the Centre works with RCA Schools to offer joint PhD supervision for candidates seeking to create new knowledge and practice within inclusive design.
Research at PhD level in the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design is inclusive and interdisciplinary. We welcome research proposals that explore inclusive design within the areas of people, place and technology.
Ageing, Health & Inclusive Design MPhil/PhD
This research degree is based within the Helen Hamlyn Centre, and focuses on the creative and systematic inquiry of issues relating to ageing, health, and/or inclusive design.
Joint supervision of research degrees
The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design also offers joint supervision to candidates based in one of the RCA's four Schools.
Candidates whose research is people-centred and involves inclusive processes will benefit from the Centre’s theoretical and methodological expertise in inclusive design, as well as inclusion in the Centre's knowledge exchange activities including a twice yearly event and team activities.
Candidates are registered to one of the RCA Schools and supervised jointly with academics within the Centre. Applicants are advised to contact the School that most closely matches their research interests in the first instance.
Research projects can be undertaken by practice or thesis routes. Visit our research degrees page to find out more.
