Research at PhD level in the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design is inclusive and interdisciplinary. We welcome research proposals that explore inclusive design within the areas of people, place and technology.

Candidates whose research is people centred and involves inclusive processes will benefit from the Centre’s theoretical and methodological expertise in inclusive design, as well as inclusion in the Centre's knowledge exchange activities including a twice yearly event and team activities.

Candidates are registered to one of the RCA Schools and supervised jointly with academics within the Centre. Applicants are advised to contact the School that most closely matches their research interests in the first instance.

Research projects can be undertaken by practice or thesis routes. Visit our research degrees page to find out more.
