Biography
Dr Clair Le Couteur (they/them) is a non-binary trans research artist, folk singer and composer. Clair lectures and leads workshops on visual culture, folk heritage, museum studies and transgender theory at the Royal College of Art, Goldsmiths, and Open School East. Recent projects include a co-authored chapter for Routledge’s Museums, Sexuality and Gender Activism, voiceover for Ayman Zedani’s Return of the Old Ones, commissions for Folkestone Museum, Margate Arts Festival and Ramsgate Festival of Sound, and performances at the Turner Contemporary and V&A Museum. Clair’s large-scale research installation Roots Between the Tides is on long-term display at Warrington Museum. The debut release from their live art / folk music project Lunatraktors was listed in MOJO Magazine’s top ten folk albums of 2019.
