Research at the RCA is underpinned by a series of policies, intended to support and assist researchers and research students to ensure their research is ethical and credible.
Research Ethics Policy
The RCA’s Research Ethics Policy (PDF) is intended to support research activities undertaken by RCA academic staff and research students. Rather than restricting research activities, the policy aims to enhance research and research methodologies through encouraging careful consideration and creative solutions to any challenges that arise.
RCA Research Data Management Policy
The RCA Research Data Management Policy (PDF) presents the principles of good research data management within the RCA, as well as outlining the roles and responsibilities of the RCA and its staff and students in this respect.
Visiting Researchers Policy
Visiting Researchers from higher education institutions in the UK and internationally are welcome at the RCA, in recognition of the benefits and enrichment they offer to the individuals involved and to the RCA’s research environment. The Visiting Researchers Policy (PDF) sets out guidelines and protocols to ensure all visiting researchers are treated fairly and supported appropriately during their time at the RCA.
Policy on Ownership, Protection and Exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights
The Policy on Ownership, Protection and Exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights (PDF) lays out the principles that govern the ownership of new work, consideration and practices relating to intellectual property rights and Proprietary Information.
Policy on Ethics in Sources of Research Funding
Securing funding in order to carry out research is an important part of being an academic. Staff in our Schools and Research Centres routinely submit applications and are awarded funding by organisations from across the public, private and third sectors, to support them to undertake research, knowledge exchange and innovation activities. The Policy on Ethics in Sources of Research Funding (PDF) ensures that funding is sought and secured in an ethical way.
Research Misconduct Policy and Procedure
The RCA is committed to the highest standards of integrity, probity and accountability in the conduct of research. The Research Misconduct Policy and Procedure (PDF) outlines the College's expectations and requirements for staff and research students, and also outlines the actions to be taken when concerns are raised.
Safeguarding Policy
The RCA's Safeguarding Policy is designed to support staff and students working with children, young people and adults who are ‘at risk’.
