Laura is a research-led designer and educator, interested in how the tools and methods of visual communication can be used to challenge dominant social and political narratives.

Laura is a tutor on MA Visual Communication, and editor of Content Free – an experimental publishing platform by and for the Visual Communication community.

Laura studied Graphic Design at the University of Brighton, and graduated from MA Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art in 2015. She has held visiting lecturer roles at Kingston University, Chelsea College of Arts and Camberwell College of Arts, and regularly gives guest lectures on socially engaged design practice. She has previously worked closely with students as a co-founder of Crowd Talks – a design discussion group facilitating conversation between students, graduates and industry.

Working across identity, editorial and exhibition design, Laura’s practice is rooted in research, with an emphasis on live, participatory and conversational research methods.

Ongoing research centres around fear of failure in creative education and the roles of graphic design in contributing to social and political change.

Laura’s practice is rooted in research and sits across identity, editorial and exhibition design – with ongoing projects centred around national identities, fear of failure and visual communication as a mode of social and political engagement.

Laura is Art Director at The Liminal Space, a creative consultancy that brings together the rigour of a think tank and the creativity of a cross-disciplinary design studio. The Liminal Space synthesises complex topics and translate them into tangible objects and experiences that people can relate to and interact with. This direct engagement ignites interest, deepens understanding and inspires action.

Laura has held visiting lecturer roles at Kingston University, Chelsea College of Arts and Camberwell College of Arts. She has worked closely with students as a co-founder of Crowd Talks – a design discussion group facilitating conversation between students, graduates and industry.
