A 3-hour creative leadership workshop delivered by experts from the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, Royal College of Art for Tama Art University. This workshop was delivered live online from London to participants joining in person in Japan.
The RCA Creative Leadership model underpinning this Masterclass is framed around three core values – Empathy, Clarity and Creativity, stemming from over 30 years of work and industry engagement by the RCA’s Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design (HHCD) – a global leader in inclusive design.

Course structure
The course ran over three hours and covered the following building blocks of Creative Leadership:
- Building Block 1: Introduction to Creative Leadership
- Building Block 2: The neuroscience of Empathy, Creativity and Clarity
- Building Block 3: The values of Creative Leadership - theory and applications
Following this there was a group discussion and activity where they created their own Creative Leadership Manifesto which they then presented to the RCA academics.
Course outcome
Participants came away from this course with:
- Access to world-class expertise.
- Introduction to strategies to cultivate leadership profile using empathy, clarity and creativity.
- Interaction and networking with peers from different backgrounds.
- Invitation to join a Creative Leaders Circle community of intent around 21st-century leadership.
- Digital certificate of attendance on completion.
